Female Empowerment Friday

Art / film / Illustration / music / photography

I am very passionate about female empowerment. I want all humans to be empowered, and I think that equality both contributes to that and comes as a result of it: empowerment brings equality and equality brings empowerment, ultimately. Because of the many gender-related issues I experience, I cheer of joy every time I find anything that contributes to overcoming these issues. To share the joy, today I list three amazing artists and their art pieces […]

Around the World ~artwork~

This will break the silence: a donut-shaped Earth painted on a tea table by my boyfriend and me! We do believe in a ball-shaped Earth. However there is some sense in the image, since we humans tend to look up from the Earth to the sky and its celestial bodies. It’s an interesting perspective at least. This month I’ve been very busy with my internship and shipping myself back and forth accross the country. Hopefully […]

Artist Sophia Wallace aims to improve the role female pleasure organs have in our cultures and our bedrooms. She does this through her ongoing art project called Clitoracy. Do check out her website, texts and artworks including the first – and beautiful –  anatomically correct sculpture of the clitoris and TEDx Talk! They’re amazing and needed. Artwork in the image from street art page. I think it’s absolutely stunning. I wish I had something like […]

“He knows not where he’s going For the ocean will decide – It’s not the DESTINATION… … It’s the glory of THE RIDE” For everyone who doesn’t know where they are going: be more like zen dog. Having a goal can surely help you, but most important is being happy in this very moment. This moment is all there will ever be. So let us enjoy the ride while it lasts, instead of focussing only […]

‘If you’ve ever been sad, then you’re already a member. The Sad Ghost Club is a club for anyone who’s ever felt sad or lost. It’s the club for those who don’t feel like they’re part of any other club.’ Founders Laura and Lize started their small creative project of making comic books, zines, apparel and merchandise to spread awareness of mental health. They also work together with mental health charities and they organise workshops […]

What to do with all this love?

This is a drawing created by the artist Chiara Bautista. I love her art so much. She has a lot of images featuring these two figures, but there’s also others. I especially love this one, because when I found it, it felt so true. Sometimes when I’m really living in the now, I feel so much love. I have asked myself: So what do I do now? Where to go with all this love? Which […]

Post Secret community art project

Art / Illustration / Other / photography

This post is about a really cool community art project: Post Secret, for which people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. This results in enormously impressive honesty on insecurities and vulnerability. It gives insight in so many different forms of conflict and trouble in human nature, in relationships, in society, etc. I find it really interesting to get to read the secrets different people harbour. It is so real, so recognizable. We all have secrets, be it small or bigger ones. We have troubles coping with our feelings. We are so similar.

The Best Resolution

Thinking of resolutions and new beginnings, reminded me of this poster. There’s so much truth in there and it’s so soothing to read those words. I would love to see it hanging in my room, but I don’t fully see where it would fit. I need more surfaces in my life. You can order the poster here on The print also comes as postcards – those would make awesome presents! But don’t forget to keep […]
